Grand Canyon Must See Sights

On Your Own Suggestions

  • Venture down the Bright Angel Trail a bit to see the “inner workings” of one of the world’s natural wonders, the Grand Canyon. You might get lucky and see one of the canyon’s more colorful characters working the trail—the Grand Canyon mules. Wear good hiking shoes.
  • Take the park’s complimentary shuttle to the end of West Rim Drive to Hermit’s Rest, a structure built in 1914 and designed by architect Mary Colter. In the early days, it was used as a rest stop by travelers. The building was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987, and the views of the Grand Canyon from here are unsurpassed.
  • The most popular way to experience the Grand Canyon is by a guided mule ride. Full-day or 2-day trips are available. South Rim mule trips may be booked 13 months in advance and fill up early, so plan ahead.
