On Your Own Suggestions
- Visit the Halifax Public Gardens. Gorgeous flowers and whimsical ducks will keep you entertained.
- Take a ferry ride across Halifax Harbour to Dartmouth (Halifax’s twin city) for a great view of the Halifax skyline, especially at night. The cost is less than $2, and the ride is 20 minutes. The ferries run on a regular schedule from the waterfront.
- Shop on Spring Garden Road. Find souvenirs at Jennifer’s of Nova Scotia, a craft and gift shop featuring pottery, jewelry, hooked-rug items, and many other items made in Canada.
- Visit Point Pleasant Park, situated at the entrance to Halifax. This park is a beautiful place to explore miles of trails and take in the live outdoor theatre called Shakespeare by the Sea (playing most evenings from July to early September).
- Visit the Museum of History & Natural Science on Summer Street. This museum is a gem and well worth a visit. Exhibits include a pre-historic Mastodon.
