Jackson Must See Sights

On Your Own Suggestions

  • Kick up your heels at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. Entering the bar is like entering a museum of the Old West that also serves dinner and drinks. The unique knotted pine architecture, cowboy murals, animal mounts, and genuine saddle barstools make this one of Wyoming’s “must sees.” And if you stop by on the right night, you never know which band might be playing. Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams, Jr., Glen Campbell, Tanya Tucker, and Willie Nelson have all performed inside the swinging doors of this saloon.
  • Visit the town square to see one of Jackson’s landmarks—the Antler Arches. In 1968, arches fashioned from shed elk antlers were constructed at all four entrances of the town square. The arches are particularly appropriate since Jackson is situated on the perimeter of the elk refuge. Each year, local Boy Scouts collect the antlers, most of which are then sold at auction in the town square at the end of May.
  • Stop by the Jackson Hole Hat Company, where they make custom cowboy hats the old way—by hand. You can design your cowboy hat, and they will build it for you, whether it is a Western hat, felt cowboy hat, or straw cowboy hat. In addition to cowboy hats, they sell Western accessories such as hatbands, leather belts, scarves, and gift items.
  • Spend some time at the National Museum of Wildlife Art, a unique museum that brings together people, wildlife, and fine art.
  • Ride the aerial tram up Rendezvous Mountain from Teton Village for fabulous views of Jackson Hole and the valley below.
