Mesa Verde National Park Must See Sights

On Your Own Suggestions

  • Mesa Verde National Park provides wonderful opportunities for stargazing. Since there are no large cities in the Four Corners region, there is very little artificial light to detract from the stars in the night sky. Most nights the skies are clear and full of stars. On a clear night, you can see the Milky Way.
  • Visit the nearby Anasazi Heritage Center, which interprets the history and diverse culture of the Four Corners region. The Center offers films, a hands-on discovery area, and permanent exhibits that explore the archaeology, local history and Pueblo, Ute, and Navajo ways of life. Take the half-mile nature trail to Excalante Pueblo for a breathtaking view of Mesa Verde, McPhee Reservoir, Four Corners, and more.
  • Journey to Four Corners National Monument, the only place in the United States where you can stand in four different states at the same time: Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. The monument is located in the desert on the Navajo Indian Reservation. There is a small visitor center, Navajo arts and craft booths, and picnic tables.
