- Admire the beautiful Betty Ford Alpine Garden, the highest botanical garden in the United States and the foremost authority on high-altitude plants. Walk the winding paths and take some time to relax at this tranquil place.
- Visit the Colorado ski slopes without strapping on a set of skis at the Colorado Ski Museum–Ski Hall of Fame. A collection of over 1,500 photographs, artifacts, pieces of equipment, and articles of clothing tell the story of130 years of Colorado skiing. Exhibits include a timeline of Colorado skiing, Olympic and World Cup memorabilia, U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division, the Evolution of Snowboarding, and the Spirit of America’s Champions.
- Rent a mountain bike and travel along the Vail Recreation Path. This paved path meanders through alpine fields, aspen groves, and Vail’s picturesque villages. The North Trail is a favorite among the locals. Located in West Vail above the Safeway, this path travels up the hillside to a vista overlooking the town of Vail.
- Take a chairlift ride up Vail or Beaver Creek Mountain for gorgeous scenery. Enjoy a picnic in an alpine meadow, then hike down the mountain or take the gondola back down. The views are amazing, and the experience is priceless. NOTE: Kids ride the chairlift for free.
