- On your way to the White Mountains, stop at Pickity Place in Mason, New Hampshire. Here you can enjoy a delicious lunch and explore the gardens and uniquely New England gift shop. The main house at Pickity Place was the illustrative site for the 1948 English edition of Little Red Riding Hood by Elizabeth Orton Jones.
- A ride up Mount Washington on the world’s first mountain-climbing cog railway is an unforgettable experience. The magnificent views, the sights and sounds of unique steam locomotives in action, and some of the steepest railway tracks in existence place it among the best of the world’s great railway journeys. Some days the view from the summit of Mount Washington spans four states, Québec, and the Atlantic Ocean.

- Board the Wildcat Express Gondola for amazing views of Mount Washington. Once up top, cast a line in the stocked trout pond, walk a mile to Thompson Brook Falls, hike along part of the Appalachian Trail, or enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the many picnic spots.
- Visit Franconia Notch State Park and see the stunning Flume Gorge. You’ll walk among towering moss-covered granite walls and past cascading waterfalls, historic covered bridges, and glacial boulders. Stop at the Visitor Center, where you can enjoy a meal or light snack and browse the selection of New Hampshire-made products.
