Monograms provides travelers access to a Local Host, so you will have someone on hand to answer those vacation questions pertaining to Budapest. No waiting in line at the concierge desk or trying to ask your waitress at breakfast directions to the shopping district. Simply ask your Local Host about Budapest and you'll be on your way in no time. Plus, your Local Host will share local Budapest insights and share suggestions for getting off the beaten path, leaving you more time to create lasting vacation memories that are yours alone.
Meet a Local Host
Hello, my name is Nora. I was born and raised in Budapest. After living in Vienna and Edinburgh, I returned to my homeland. I have a degree in Tourism Management, but I discovered that rather than working in the office administration side of tourism, I much prefer working directly with people. I have never regretted my decision. As a Local Host, there is nothing more rewarding than contributing to Monograms’ guests and knowing they are taking home happy memories of their stay in Budapest.
Belle Époque
Ask your Local Host for suggestions of walking routes around town to see the historic center and the Belle Époque buildings—many already restored to their former splendor.
Museums
Budapest has a wealth of fascinating museums. Ask your Local Host for information to suit your interests.
The Great Synagogue
Budapest has the world’s second-largest synagogue. Visit the adjacent museum with its moving memorial to the Hungarian Holocaust.
Szobor Statue Park
See this historical exhibition displaying statues of the communist era: Lenin, Marx, Engels, Dimitrov, soldiers of the Red Army, and communist memorabilia.
City Park
Visit the zoo and park and see thermal steam rising in the gardens.
Danube Promenade
Stroll along the Danube Promenade and view the magnificent Chain and Elisabeth Bridges.
Thermal Baths
Ask about the best places to enjoy the thermal baths, originally discovered by the Romans, for some relaxing and restoring moments.
State Opera House
Budapest is proud to possess one of the most beautiful opera houses in the world. The opening performance was held in 1884 after nine years of construction.
Hungarian Stews, Paprika and Tokai
Try spicy Hungarian stews and rich desserts, sip Tokaj wine (the wine of kings and the king of wines), and sample fruit brandy.
Vaci Utca
This elegant pedestrian area is the main shopping street. See exclusive boutiques, folk art, and inspiring architecture while you enjoy music from the street musicians. While in town, shop for paprika, porcelain, antiques, and embroidered felt and linen.
